I met Nichole when we worked together. Nichole’s husband was preparing to deploy with the military and the couple wanted family portraits taken before he left.
For the portrait shoot we meet at Pillsbury Crossing southeast of Manhattan.
Despite the boys being tired and cranky we were able to get a few great shots. Even stubborn and tired children can be cute when caught on film.

A few weeks after this shoot the family also hired to capture the memories of the going away party that Nichole threw for her husbnd to spen time with this family before the husband’s deployment.
This picture of their oldest son shows his stubbornness the day of the shoot but at the same time shows how kids really can be; happy one minute and grumpy the next.
Their other son; however was pretty happy and cooperative during the whole shoot.
I worked with Jeniffer during college at Long’s. We formed a friendship and I left Hutchinson for a career job in the Manhattan area just months before her first daughter, Andria, was born.
Jeniffer and her husband, Eric, now have two beautiful daughters born just a year and week apart.
I commend them both for having not one, but two children in diapers at the same time.
The girls are now nearly 2-and-a-half and 1-and-a-half years old.
I also commend Jeniffer for being such a strong mom now dealing with her first deployment as a single parent while Eric serves our country in Afghanistan.
Hang in their Jen! You’re about half way through and Eric will be home before you now it.

Keith and I met in our MicroApplications class the first week of our college careers. That was more than six years ago and we have been friends ever since for some reason. Just kidding.
As with all friends we’ve had our issues over the years but have pulled through them all.
Keith did me a favor by letting me take pictures of him with his bike just months after he nearly died in a motorcycle accident. I am so thankful that he survived and had the courage to get right back on despite my dislike of motorcycles.
Thanks for all the friendship and support over the years Keith!
Becky is the little sister of an old college friend. She graduated a few years ago but I still love looking at her pics and remember the old times I spent with her family.
I absolutely loved this shoot and Sissy was such a great dog to work with as well. She did exactly as we’d asked and didn’t give us any trouble despite still being a puppy.
We took two-days to complete this shoot due to having locations picked out in Wichita and Manhattan. During a visit with her brothers we headed out to Pillsbury Crossing and took advantage of the gorgeous waterfall scenery.

Becky doesn’t really like having her picture taken but having her mom’s tea-cup chihuahua who decided to jump off of my leg and fall into the water at the same time I’d snapped the above picture to make Becky laugh. The result? A great picture that became hers and her mom’s favorite.
These two girls have become my “adopted daughters” over the last couple of years. I used to work with their grandmother and started getting aquainted with all of them after they lost their house in a fire two years ago.
The grandparents are raising them and their older brother, Adam.
I have attended the girls’ ballet recitals for the last year and a half where I have gained a few clients. Any time I need a couple of models their grandmother is more than willing to offer the girls and they are more than willing to let me take their pictures as they love to be photographed.
Lilli’s even turned into a mini-me especially after she received my old camera for her birthday last year.
I went to middle and high school with Arya’s mom. It’s very hard to believe that we have been out of school for what will be six years in a couple of weeks let alone have kids.
At nearly 9 months this little girl already showed many signs of independence and was very determined to do what we didn’t want her to do.
With those bright blue eyes you just can’t be mad at her.
We got some adorable pics of her doing what kids to best.
She’s a perfect example of why I love photograhing babies and small children.
I’ve known Hailey since she was a baby and I was thrilled when her mom asked me to take her senior pictures. It’s hard to believe that she will be graduating in a few short weeks from now.
A few months ago we meet in Herington and utilized the Ligget Park for some shots before heading out to the lake. The fall was a great time because the temperatures were great and there were many wildflowers we were able to use for backdrops.
We also took some photos with her aunts horses that turned out great. Her silly cousin, Lawson, jumped into one of the shots and we just played off of it.
I hope that Hailey suceeds in all that she does.
Congrats Hailey, class of 2010, Chapman High School.
A college friend, Cait, and her daughter, Chy, took advantage of a free session offer in August 2009.
Chy turned a year old last summer and this day was the first time “Aunt” Shandi had gotten to meet her.
I traveled to Hutchinson for this session and we took full advantage of Carey Park and Dillon Nature Center.
Another college friend and Chy’s “Uncle” Keith joined us with his Kawaski motorcycle.
It was a beautiful day filled with old friends and meeting my “neice.”
